I started blogging on a whim at Andrea Kelly at The Hand-Written Life just to get in the practice of writing on a regular basis, and to get used to sharing my work with the public.  Since then a little over 2 years have passed, and that decision has turned out to be one of the best I ever could have made.

Not that it has always been easy.  The more I learned about this whole new blogosphere, the more information I – eagerly – soaked up.  Unfortunately that only resulted in feeling constrained by the ideas set out by those who’d come before me.  I was focusing more on what I felt like people wanted to read, rather than what I wanted to write, and soon, the spark of creativity I had initially felt started to fade.

Today, I’m ready to break out of the box that I put myself in by searching for the ever elusive “right” way to write and blog successfully.  I have realized that the truly great creative minds in our history have never followed the beaten path – and that’s because doing things the way they have always been done is directly counter-intuitive to the creative process.   So I’m putting the idea of success on the back burner, which means that these days I’m probably not as organized or focused or timely as some of the other writers you may follow.  I certainly don’t manage to update the site every day (sometimes I may forget to update for an entire week), and you won’t find a specific theme or focus woven through each of its pages.

In the end, I’m following the inspiration – wherever it may lead.  I’m going back to my roots.  I invite you all to do the same, and join me for the ride.  Let’s find out what makes us happy! (And the things that really, really don’t).  Let’s talk about what we’re reading and writing, watching and listening to, and straight up loving at the moment.  Let’s come together and celebrate people, and the many ways that life and its experiences connect us all.  My goal through this blog – and writing in general – is to become the best person I can be.  My hope is that I can inspire a few of you to do the same along the way.

Thank you for reading, and I hope you come back for more!
